Lake of the Woods is one of the largest private gated communities in Virginia. Over four thousand homes spread across thousands of acres of wooded lots, two lakes, a golf course, and miles of internal roads. The owners are mostly retirees and second-homeowners. The trees are mature, the lots are large, and the property maintenance needs are constant – particularly tree work, storm cleanup, and the kind of brush clearing that takes a real piece of equipment, not a string trimmer.

IronHaul Co services Lake of the Woods regularly out of our Fredericksburg shop. We are familiar with the gate procedure, the speed limits inside the community, the access constraints around the lakes, and the LOWA HOA contractor expectations. We carry full general liability coverage and we provide documentation that LOWA admin or your individual lot management may need.

Services for Lake of the Woods Homeowners

  • Tree removal in Lake of the Woods – Mature oaks, pines, poplars, and hickories on wooded lots. Hazardous-tree takedowns, dead-tree removal, leaning-tree assessments, and post-storm cleanup with full debris haul-off.
  • Storm cleanup – Wind, ice, and summer storm response. We handle trees on houses, on cars, blocking driveways, or down across lots. Priority response inside the gates.
  • Lawn care in Lake of the Woods – Weekly mowing, mulch installation, spring and fall cleanup. We handle wooded-lot mowing where larger crews skip the shaded sections.
  • Brush and underbrush clearing – Reclaim wooded property lines, clear invasive understory, restore lake-view sightlines where lot-management rules allow.
  • Gravel driveway repair – Long wooded-lot driveways take a beating. Crusher-run topdressing, grading, drainage correction, root-damage repair.
  • Junk removal in Lake of the Woods – Estate cleanouts, downsizing cleanouts, garage and basement clearouts. Common in a community with a lot of homes turning over.
  • Skid steer services – Backyard grading, drainage, retaining-wall prep, brush removal in tight wooded settings.

Why Lake of the Woods Calls IronHaul

  • We know the gate. We bring the right paperwork, we radio in correctly, and we do not slow down the gate house. Recurring clients can put us on a permanent visitor list.
  • Wooded-lot specialists. Most contractors avoid LOTW lots because the access is harder, the trees are taller, and the lots are bigger. That is exactly the work we are equipped for – track loaders, forestry mulchers, skid steers, and trained tree crews.
  • Insurance-ready storm documentation. LOTW gets hit hard by every storm system. For insurance-claim work we deliver photo documentation, itemized invoicing, and same-day paperwork that adjusters accept.
  • HOA-compliant. We work inside LOWA contractor rules, including noise hours, dumpster placement, debris handling, and post-job site condition. You do not get a violation letter on our account.
  • Same crew, every visit. Recurring lawn and maintenance contracts run with the same team. Property knowledge compounds, work quality compounds.

Recent Lake of the Woods Projects

Multi-Tree Storm Cleanup – Eastern Shore Lot

Derecho event dropped five mature oaks across a single property – one on the deck, two across the driveway, two in the back yard. Two-day cleanup, careful rigging on the deck tree, full debris haul-off, stumps ground flush. Insurance packet delivered three days later.

Wooded-Lot Brush Reclamation – Interior Loop

Pre-Sale Property Refresh – Fairway Lot

Estate sale on a long-held LOTW home. Estate cleanout (four full trailer loads), brush clearing along the back tree line, driveway re-grade and topdress, full lawn cleanup. Listed two weeks later, sold inside thirty days.

Lake of the Woods FAQ

Are you an LOWA-approved contractor?

We work inside LOTW regularly and we comply with LOWA contractor requirements. If LOWA admin or your individual lot management needs us added to a specific vendor list, give us a call and we will send insurance certificates and any other paperwork they need.

How does gate access work?

You call the gate ahead of our scheduled time and put us on your visitor list. For recurring clients we ask to be added to a permanent list so the gate guard is not slowed down at every visit.

Can you take down a tree leaning toward a house?

Yes. Leaning-tree and hazardous-tree work is core to what we do. We rig from proper anchor points, lower limbs in controlled sections, and protect the house, deck, or driveway during the cut.

How fast can you respond to storm damage inside LOTW?

For trees on houses, cars, or blocking driveways we prioritize same-day response when there is a daylight window. LOTW gets hit hard by storms – call (540) 717-9758 directly rather than waiting for the contact form to be checked.

Do you do dock or in-water work?

No. Land-side work only – brush clearing, debris haul-off, tree removal, lawn maintenance, driveway repair. In-water dock and shoreline construction is regulated separately and is not our scope.

Is there a service minimum for LOTW jobs?

For small projects deep inside the gates we usually have a minimum service fee to cover travel and access time. Most LOTW jobs are large enough that this does not come up. We will tell you up front during the estimate.
